Working in the non-profit sector is amazing and at times a privilege but have you ever considered how unhealthy it is to work in the non-profit sector? Long hours and managing decline while the demand for your services increases, poor management or support, while you are always meeting the needs of others and draining your emotional batteries. Sometimes a work-life balance is unthinkable or an unrealistic goal, we know, because we have been there.
With over 60 years of knowledge and experience working in the non-profit sector at national and local levels both in the UK and overseas we understand the demands of the job and the lack of support around staff well-being and mental health. Often the demands of the job are just so complicated it feels impossible for one person to deliver. We have seen many good colleagues who have given so much to others burning out or being consumed by the demands of their job.
That’s why we have created this learning community, simply to help us all learn more about our well-being, mental health, and self-care.
